OsmoCare Technology in the Management of Itching Associated with
Chickenpox*

This was the first clinical
trial to be undertaken in the UK for an OTC topical
product for the relief of chickenpox. The trial was carried out on
children with chickenpox.

Trial Objective
To assess the multiple dose tolerability and efficacy of
Care Virasoothe Chickenpox Relief Cooling Gel in
reducing the itch component in chickenpox, ensuring it is safe to
use
Clinical Trial Method
Children aged 6 months to 12 years with a
clinical diagnosis of chickenpox were asked with the help of their
parents/guardians to apply the gel to itchy lesions
and rate their symptoms twice daily...
Each child was seen on 2 occasions:

Clinical Trial Results
“70% of children within
the trial reported a marked or moderate improvement in
symptoms”
Nurses involved within the trial felt that Care
Virasoothe:
- was very effective in relieving the symptoms
associated with chickenpox
- would recommend it to parents for children with
chickenpox
